In Landscape Painting or painting en plein air, it will become apparent to the artist, that there is a certain amount of Halo affects that occur in nature.  This atmospheric phenomena occurs especially near the outlines of mountains and along horizons near sunset.  Sometimes it looks like there are two lines instead of just one silhouette of the mountain or horizon line.
